| NOTE:
This is a special announcement concerning the Friends of
SHS58.ORG and the web sites which they sponsor. I believe
this to be important information that anyone who's
interested in helping out with sponsorship of these web
sites should know.
With the help of a lot of Elmirans and former Elmirans, we've been able to bring many pictures, stories, links, etc. to make it a really fun place to visit and something original and memorable. I continually get great comments from a lot of folks who enjoy visiting the web site and remembering Elmira back in the Fifties and Sixties. Since that beginning, I have helped to organize sites for several other Southside alumni to help publicize their reunions. And so in the spirit of wanting to help, a number these alumni have been kind enough to grace my bank account with a few of their hard-earned dollars. In other words, they are helping me to pay expenses to keep these sites going. Over these several years, I have received small individual donations from a growing group that I call Friends of SHS58.ORG. When we started, these websites cost me approximately $300 per year. Over the subsequent years, things got less expensive as hosting services got more competitive. And so it now runs about 160 per year for registrations and hosting charges for all the sites. You can see a breakdown of expenses on a link from this page. Friends of SHS58.ORG pays the hosting bills for the following: SHS Alumni
E-Mail Registry In addition, Friends of SHS58.ORg pays the domain registration for SHS58.ORG and EldridgePark.US. These sites have generated a lot of interest among the SHS Alumni community as well as others who grew up in Elmira. The bulk of our audience comes from the early fifties to the late sixties, but there are many from before and after that period that visit regularly. We get mail from all over, including EFA and Notre Dame alumni as well as folks who had never heard of Elmira, NY before they came to one of these web sites. A number of EFA grads as well as Notre Dame grads have chipped in and become Friends if SHS58.ORG. Donations have been between $20 and $50. I really don't want to get big donations. Please send no more than $50. I believe it's better that the cost be shared by as many as possible. And anybody who wants to contribute and add his/her name to the list will most assuredly experience our appreciation. Our goal is to make this collection of Elmira memories solvent for a few more years. Donations should be made payable to Bill Cook at this address: W. D.
