RIVERSIDE
PARK PICNIC PAVILION
Elmira, NY - 1912
mong the many parks in Elmira, the memories
of Riverside and its 40 plus acre presence on the Southside
remain intact. Bounded by Maple Avenue on the west and the Chemung
River on the east, here we see Riverside Park's old Picnic Pavilion
as it stood in the early 1900s. Family picnics and corporate
outings on the 4th of July were among its specialties. This
antique postcard photo was sent in to us by Joe McDonald (SHS
Class of 58) and his wife, Patricia Manwaring McDonald (SHS
Class of 60) who still reside in the Elmira area.
