From Connie's Notes: This is evidently a photo of some sort of gardening awards.  I am on the left and have a notoriously black thumb, so I must have cheated.

In the Connie Newbauer picture with Connie, Jon Meriwether and Jack L'Amoreaux, I can tell you what the picture portrays. It shows the winners of the annual Hopkins Street Flower Show, each holding his/her prize winner. My brother Jack is holding a pot/vase of cock's comb (grown by our grandmother) to which he had pinned a dead butterfly. Sounds gruesome but it caught the eyes of the judges and he won a prize. He used the same ploy the next year and won another prize. Probably different judges.
