Downtown Elmira - Market Street - 1904

his photo is another from Mike Paul's collection - early 1900s in downtown Elmira. Plenty of parking spaces and no need for a Centertown Parking Garage. Just park Bessie and the buggy anywhere and shop 'til you drop.

Here on this corner is a bicycle repair shop - for the folks who used that other realiable means of good transportation. We are looking at the corner of E. Market and Baldwin Streets here in this photo. In today's downtown Elmira, right around the corner (that would be on your left in this photo) and down Baldwin about half a block is M & M Red Hots.
