Elmira

corner of Lake and Market Streets in Elmira featured a hub of activity
in the early 1900s. Here is a photo that was sent in to us by Mike Paul,
another from his collection, that shows just how busy it was back then.
The pavers were probably brick. The street lights were probably electric.
The cars were probably Fords. The benches were probably made of wood.
The fire hydrants were probably painted red. And, no probably
about it - the jumpin' place was the Chemung County Court House.
