Editor's Note: The reunion committee created a Reunion Booklet for our 1998 reunion - you can purchase it from us for $10.00 per copy. The booklet contains a number of auto-biographical sketches like this one as our Whatever Happened series continues.

Hello from San luis Obispo, California.

Wow! Forty years? What have I been doing? Not a whole lot, come to think of it. - but on the other hand, maybe there is. Where to begin -- of course, I got married young (at 19 years but it worked out well) to Richard Crawford. We have been married now for almost 39 years and have two great kids: Richard (Rick) is 38 years old and Susan is 31 years old. The "raising the kids" years were busy ones and I mostly stayed home (the term used to be housewife?). The first 12 years were spent moving around the country while my husband finished his education (he is a nurse - anesthetist) and spent 2 1/2 years in the Navy. One year was in Vietnam (1968-69) while I went home to New York to stay with my parents. We have lived in Minnesota and Virginia - then the last 28 years here in California.

When I was 42 years old, I went back to school and earned a degree in Social Science at our local State University (California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo), or just "Cal Poly". Attended classes with my son and his friends and had a lot more fun the second time around. Both kids graduated from Cal Poly, too, and are both teachers. Rick teaches 8th grade Language Arts in a small town 2 1/2 hours away. Susan teaches second grade in Denver, CO.

I worked for 10 years in the non-profit world, the last 6 years as director of a small volunteer program serving seniors. Retired in January and am starting a new chapter in my life. We love to travel: have been in all the states (except Alaska and Delaware), Canada, Mexico and a trip to England, Scotland, Ireland this spring.

Looking forward to the 1998 reunion - it will be my first!!
